Our Princess Kawananakoa Hawaiian Wedding Dress is named for a beloved and independent Hawaiian princess. Adjustable straps connected through a tie-string empire bodice makes this dress both contemporary and practical. A subtle ruffle at the hem of the skirt, which is slightly longer in the back, exudes an understated femininity. Made of our exclusive luxurious herringbone rayon. Made in Hawaii. Machine washable. Part of our Ali`i Wedding Line. Beautiful wedding attire fit for royalty.
The real Princess Kawananakoa was a strong role model for the women of Hawaii. She was not only heir to the throne, but also a politician and became prominent on the national Republican stage (her husband was a Democrat). After her brother-in-law Prince Kuhio died in 1922, she assumed an active role in the politics of Hawaii and worked diligently as advocate for her people, the native Hawaiians.
